Ryan Mandell is a journalist, publicist, copywriter, content writer, and magazine contributor.  He writes for multiple publications and companies including Concious Lifestyle Magazine, The Santa Barbara Independent, BigSpeak, Sidekick Creative, The Santa Barbara Consciousness Network, and The Millennial Entrepreneur Network.

In 2014, Ryan won 3rd place from the CCMA in the category of ‘Best Arts & Entertainment Story’ for his review of Mac DeMarco‘s performance and police incident at the UCSB HUB . Currently, he is a staff writer for the Santa Barbara Independent and Conscious Lifestyle Magazine. He follows the A & E beat for the Independent and he writes educational, travel, and personal development pieces for Conscious Lifestyle.

He has interviewed My Morning Jacket, Slightly Stoopid, Cheech Marin, Mike Campbell of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Zella Day and Blitzen Trapper. Ryan is also a budding travel writer, his journey has led him to beautiful places like Indonesia.

Most recently, Ryan has transitioned in the world of public relations. He has run successful campaigns for the One Love Festival, DEEEP Events, and is currently employed as a Junior Account Executive at Surf Media Communications, which services non-profits such as the YMCA, United Way, and many others.

Ryan feels that words are immensely powerful and fragile at the same time, they need to be respected and carry a clear intention. Ryan’s goal is to suffuse the passion and power that this life radiates into his writings by exciting the senses, asking questions, and creating stories that stand the test of time.
